Dubai wants everything, and they desire the best and biggest of everything that exists on the planet. Dubai is one of the richest countries in the world, and it is argued that it contains the richest people in the world as well. It has established itself very much so as the luxury capital of the world.
First of all Dubai wanted to create the most luxurious hotel on the entire planet. The Burj Al Arab was built. This hotel reaches high up into the sky at around 341 metres in height. This hotel is a unique icon of Dubai, and it was built to resemble the sail on an Arabian Dhow. The hotel is nothing to be sneered at, it even sits on a man made island. This self proclaimed 7 star hotels is the only one of it’s kind across the world, and when you can see what the rooms look like, its difficult to disagree with them. Now the rooms may be expensive normally, but the Royal Suite will cost you around 29,000 dollars every night. There is a marvelous restaurant that has been built on the lower floors of this hotel, and it has a massive 1,000,000 litre Aquarium in the middle.
This next building has been under construction for the past 5 years and is huge. The tallest building on the planet now is the Burj Dubai, reaching a massive height of almost 820 metres. The previous tallest building was the KVLY-TV mast which towered at just over 628 metres. It will be a while now before there is another building built taller than this. This construction is supposed to be finished by the end of 2009, and the rooms will be costing an incredible amount. The average cost per square metre will cost in the region of 43,000 dollars, meaning the whole office will be around 1 million dollars upwards.
Dubai holidays are on the rise, but for those that want to travel here, make sure you save up a fair amount. Christmas holidays expect to benefit from this, but with competition from areas like Maldives holidays, they may have trouble getting the tourists.

Have you every wondered what is the best hotel in the world, I would wager that you probably have. But by best, what do we mean by the best hotel in the world. For some this could be a hotel of good quality, that doesn’t cost that much. For others it will be hotel of stunning quality that is going to be relatively expensive.
So how are we going to measure this? Well for this we won’t be looking at the price of a room. We will simply look at the quality of these hotels, and the world wide knowledge of them. So let’s start, I have narrowed my search down to 2 hotels, one of which will be considered by most to be the number one hotel in the world, however its contender is a good possibility.
Well let’s start off with the heavy weight champion. The Burj Al Arab is without a doubt the most iconic hotel in the world, the place is like a little package of heaven. If you are ever lucky enough to visit, then make sure that you cancel all of your plans and head there ASAP. It is in the same design as a dhow sail from one of the Arabian sail vessels. The inside closely resembles a bee hive, but of extreme modern and luxurious proportions. This hotel has so much to offer any visitor, a restaurant with a sea life centre in the middle, not to mention the rooms are like small presidential mansions.
So what hotel could possibly contend with this then? Well how about the Oberoi Udaivilas, India. This is a hotel in the world famous chain of Oberon established in 1934. Not only is this recognised as one of the top luxury hotels in the world, but it has even starred in a Jams Bond film, to be precise the film “Octopussy”. Each room has its own private infinity pool and the restaurant provides some of the best cuisine in the world. This hotel also wins awards every year, and is set in some of the most glorious scenery in the world.
Dubai holidays and Indian Ocean holidays are in great demand, rivalled only by Caribbean holidays or Maldives holidays.
