About the town

the group is drawn to sparkling ski slopes of the Alps, sunlit vineyards and sun-baked beaches of this beautiful country. France is a country which draws more visitors than any other country. It is easy to grasp why this is the case given France’s great name for fine wines, delicious food, haute couture and relaxed lifestyle . But while France is undoubtedly a place to eat and drink till your heart is content, there’s much more to this entrancing country than only leading edge cuisines. Spring is the best time to be here, and those interested in winter sports can drop at the Alps and Pyrenees with some polar gear. The summers are very hot and winters are moderate. An all-weather coat and pair of cushty shoes are a must-have. Women, particularly, should carry cocktail dresses as some of the restaurants ask for it. When visiting any spiritual site, refrain from wearing sleeveless shirt and shorts, as they are unpopular at such places.

Culture

English is widely spoken here, though French is the official language. Handshaking is
customary greeting and women should be kissed on both cheeks and should be addressed
as Mr. or Madame. French folks are generally renowned for their like for trendy sporting clothing
and of course perfumes. Nudism is permitted on some beaches only. Social functions, fine
eateries, and clubs call for more formal dressing. When at a formal dinner, wait until the host
gestures to start the dinner. Smoking is banned in public.

Site Seeing

Paris, the city of love, is a giant town with many attractions in reachable distance thanks to the
extremely efficient public transport system. It boasts of more than 80 museums and 2 hundred humanities
galleries. A visit to Disney land and the wonderful Eiffel tower will make the trip worthwhile.
The fascinating tourists spots are the Arc de triomphe which spans over the tomb of an
unknown infantryman, the forbidding gothic architecture of the Notre lady cathedral, the quaint
Sacre Coeur, to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the Moulin Rouge and ship tours along the
Seine. Get the Carte Musees-Monuments pass, which gives access to seventy monuments and
museums.

Shopping

although service tax is included in the bill, a humble tip won’t cost much. An extra greenback can be given as tip to the waiter. An end of $2 can get left for the bus drivers.
Electricity

220-volt, 50-cycle AC current.
Getting There

the national airline that operates here is Air France. Many cheap airlines, too, provide services from UK. Paris-Charles de Gaulle a. K. A Roissy-Charles de Gaulle is the major airport of France, which is 23km away from the city. Coaches, taxis, limousines services are offered at the airport. The railway facility provided by the airfield, claims to reach all of the terminals inside eight minutes. These trains run 24 hours. The other airports that offer flight services are Paris-Orly, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nice, Lyon and Toulouse.

Ferry and cruise trips can be made from ports such as Atlantic, North Sea, Mediterranean, and Havre.

Tax Free Items

1. Two hundred cigarettes or fifty cigars or one hundred cigarillos or 250g of tobacco
2. 1liter of spirits over twenty-two % or 2liter of alcoholic beverage up to 22 percent
3. 2liter of wine
4. 50g of perfume and 250ml of eau de toilette
five. 500g of coffee or 200g of coffee extract
6. 100g of tea or 40g of tea extract

Food and agricultural products must be avoided.

An enticing Mediterranean climate, timeless scenery and excellent shopping are just some of the draws for holidaymakers heading to the Cote d’Azur – otherwise known as the French Riverira. This stylish choice is sometimes thought of as a destination for wealthy travellers, but it is equally possible to enjoy all the region’s delights on a budget as well. Cheap hotels can be found all along the coast for those who know where and when to look.

Stretching across France’s Southern coast, the French Riviera is made up of several cities and towns. With its great transport links, Nice is great city to base yourself while exploring the region. A walk down the historic Promenade des Anglais and you’ll understand what Nice is really about. From the sea stretching out on one side to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps on the other, it’s hard not to be impressed. Meanwhile, an array of cheap hotels also makes this a sensible place to stay.

If you’re looking for a luxurious break, head to the seaside city of Cannes. It truly is a playground for the rich and famous with its stylish designer shopping district and trendy nightclubs. Sun-worshippers will enjoy spending the day soaking up the rays on the beach and with lunch at one of the many cafes that stud the seaside. Night time is all about glitz and glam, so be sure to pack your trendiest attire. Visit out of season and you’ll find some great deals on cheap hotels.

A less well known and more affordable destination is Menton. There’s a strong Italian influence in this tiny French town as it once belonged to Genoa. It’s truly charming with cobbled streets and medieval architecture. With an abundance of shops, gardens and museums, you won’t find yourself short of things to do. If you’re going to be travelling between the French and Italian coasts, Menton has several cheap hotels, making it a great base.
