Volunteering in Africa is becoming a new form of tourism in the world and everybody is looking to the continent to provide something a little different. Everyone is looking towards Africa to offer new volunteer initiatives that are hard to replicate anywhere else in the world for the people who want to participate in volunteer opportunities abroad. Africa is the second largest continent on planet earth and boasts over 1000 different languages from Shona to Swahili. The smallest country is the island group in the Indian Ocean called the Seychelles and the largest, Sudan consumes a lot of the Sahara Desert. Due to colonisation of European countries much of Africa has kept the same language and thus you will find many of the Sub Saharan African countries speaking French, English & Spanish. The main religions on the continent consist of Christianity and Islam. The African continent straddles the equator which gives the countries definitive rainy and dry seasons.
Despite the beauty and mineral wealth Africa has to offer the continent faces a number of key problems in it’s strive for success. One of the main and key issues the continent faces is human rights and corruption. A lot of Africa is corrupt with governments making a lot more money than they should be doing. Countries like the Congo have a terrible human rights record with 1 in every 5 Congolese ladies being raped. Volunteers are able to work in the more stable countries offering their services to help the people who are most effected from poverty and suffering. Depending on the country you go to whether you decide to do some volunteering in Malawi you will always find a project which interests you and is beneficial to the local community. The programs in which many volunteers are able to participate include teaching English at schools, working with HIV/AIDS orphans, working on construction projects, working as a sports coach, working as a journalist, in a law firm and also most people’s favourite; working with animals.

Why not travel to Africa this summer since this is where one of the biggest events in the world is being held! The world cup takes place in South Africa which is undoubtedly going to attract the world’s attention.
Even if you don’t have a ticket to the world cup, like most of us there are still so many reasons to visit Africa this year. Volunteering overseas has always been a great alternative for a lot of people. whether you want to offer your services as a volunteer in Kenya working with children or animals volunteering abroad is an excellent, exhilarating way to spend you summer.
We all know the world cup is going to be an historic event as it’s the first major competition of any kind to be held on African shores. We have also seen that all the tickets are almost sold out. Africa is a vast diverse continent and its not all about South Africa this summer. Why not become a volunteer and offer your services assisting the poor local communities of the more destitute places in Africa. Volunteering is for you if you want to enhance your experiences of life, get involved with locals and see how the world works through their eyes. Whether you choose to visit the tropical coastline of east Africa or the bustling metropolises of Nigeria there are opportunities to volunteer all over the African continent
One of the greatest feelings is helping someone in need. Volunteer gives you satisfaction, determination and the courage to take on more challenges in life. Get out to Africa this summer and volunteer, make a difference not only in your life but in the lives of many other people who need your help in unimaginable ways.
There are over a billion people in Africa to date and considering this is the poorest continent in the world it is truly understandable how necessary you help is there. Locals consider volunteers help as invaluable as without volunteers the progress and learning would be very very slow.
Be apart of something special and volunteer in Africa this year. Your help is unforgettable and extremley fruitful. Its a challenge everybody should set themselves to reap the benefits, happiness and joy out of life.
