Whether it’s volunteering in Nairobi or volunteering in rural Africa there is something for everybody. Africa’s population has recently risen over 1 billion people and over 50% of these people live below the poverty line. The people that really need the help rarely receive it from the government as a lot of countries within Africa as corrupt. Volunteering is one of the best ways to aid the people in this struggle and to help them fight poverty and disease. It has a guaranteed success rate and all the local people benefit from this method of teaching and learning.

South Africa being nominated to host the World Cup is not only a huge achievement for the country it is also a great responsibility for the continent. It shows the rest of the world has trust in Africa to host such a huge sporting event. Even though the trust has been given to Africa they have abused it by knocking down apartment blocks and shanty towns in order to build new stadiums and facilities to host the world cup. It does not care about its own people and only cares about how the rest of the world perceives it.

People are not only volunteering at this years world cup but are participating in volunteer projects all over the continent from Egypt in the north to Zimbabwe in the south. The continent is teeming with volunteers who have come from all over the world to help in any way they can. Volunteering can help boost your morale, your motivation, self esteem and can even change your perception of Africa. It is truly remarkable what can be achieved by volunteering. Why not give it a go and volunteer in Africa today?

Volunteering in Zanzibar is most certainly amongst the top destinations volunteers are now visiting There are many profound reasons why this is the case. Kenya and Tanzania are very popular tourist destinations with people from all over the world due to there unique scenery and landscapes. These countries also have a very unique and diverse culture to offer the rest of the world ranging from the Masai tribe in Tanzania to the Pokot tribe in Northern Kenya. As the rest of Africa goes these countries are relatively stable attracting more tourists.

These countries have consequently become famous due to these internationally known attractions thus attracting volunteers from all over the world. The volunteer’s main aim of visiting the country is to offer their help and support to the local communities that really need it. Many of the attractions of the country will be on the volunteers list of things to do whilst there. Countries like this benefit greatly from the volunteers. Not only do local communities within the country benefit greatly but the country itself earns revenue from the volunteers taking part in safaris and climbing mountains and beach tourism.

The reason volunteer numbers are so high in East Africa is because of the safety and security combination. It is a relatively safe region of the country in comparison to it’s neighbours Somalia and Sudan which are in constant conflict. There is a lot of foreign investment taking place in East Africa improving facilities for volunteers and tourists alike to make the most of.

Volunteers on the whole have an experience of a lifetime whilst on projects within this area. It is not only the local communities in Africa who benefit positively but also the volunteer’s themselves. They gain the sense of achievement, gratification and self-belief which all comes as part of the package. It is a great motivator and a great realisation of what people can do when they put their minds to it.
