Our partner has been arranging climbs up Kilimanjaro, Mt. Kenya and the Rwenzori since 1990 and has sent well over 8000 clients up the Kilimanjaro since 1993, with an average success rate of about 95% to the top! The average amongst operators is 60% or less. They are members of the IMEC (International Mountain Explores Connection) which is an American initiative that protect porter’s rights.

All senior guides have undertaken an extensive course on medical rescue, mountain rescue, first aid and related mountain injuries through an independent organization.

Your accommodation
The Keys Uru Hotel, or its sister hotel Keys Mbokomo – will be your base, and are located in Moshi close to centre of town in a quite suburb. Both have a swimming pool, indoor bar and garden area, patio, restaurant and satellite TV coverage. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Showers are en-suite with hot/cold water. The staff are very friendly and ‘nothing is too much trouble’.

On the camping route good quality South African and American equipment is used (tents and sleeping mats, camp stools, table etc) this is regularly checked and re-supplied every season.

The Environment
Gas cooking equipment is used, proper waste disposal and mountain hygiene is encouraged, and the guides are trained in these matters by the authorities.
Briefing

Comprehensive briefings before the climb are given – offering first hand advice on all the hiking routes. Any route can be arrange – additional days on the mountain if requested, overnights in the crater, technical climbs (although Heim glacier/Arrow route is currently closed), or supply additional services on any of the routes – such as one-on-one guiding, portable toilets, guides to carry your cameras to the  summit etc – to make this into the ultimate 5 star adventure.

Equipment

In house equipment for hire is available like Ventex jackets, down jackets, sleeping bags, waterproof pants, walking poles, water bottles, backpacks and kit bags. These must be pre booked well in advance. Personal luggage allowances is 12 kg, please follow our packing instructions carefully.
The guides and crew – last but definitely not least!

Good guiding gets you to the top and the guides are excellent. Some of our local guides have climbed and been trained in the USA and on Everest, and have years of experience on all major routes (including technical routes). Some of the guides have summated over 400 times! The guides motivate you and look after your every need – ensuring that everyone safely gets to the top.

The guides have completed a course on the principles of first aid and safety management including:

•    Emergency scene management
•    Artificial respiration
•    On-rescue CPR
•    Choking
•    Wounds and bleeding
•    Shock, unconsciousness and fainting
•    Fractures
•    Burns
•    Head and spinal injuries
•    Correct use of oxygen & Gamow bag if carried.
