This privately owned lodge is set on the edge of the escarpment some 10 Kilometres from the Lake Manyara. It is situated in a great location at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment but high enough to have good views over the valley and a small lake below. This is a lodge that has a real mission to work with the Maasai and the local community and the lodge has borrowed from local building methods for its design.
There are 25 very large round Boma style rooms decorated throughout with genuine Maasai artefacts. The rooms are quite luxurious. There are also honeymoon suites and special rooms for the disabled. Each room has its own veranda with good views.
The staff is all local and you will have your own private butler service. The food is excellent and is served in a thatched open-air restaurant. There is a large well-positioned swimming pool for relaxing. If you are feeling more energetic this is a great area for bird watching and there are a whole range of walks that can be done from here, you can climb up the escarpment walk around the lake or walk to the waterfalls. The local Maasai guides are excellent at furthering your enjoyment and given the lodge’s excellent relationships with the local community this is a good place to visit a Maasai village.
