There are many different kinds of accommodations to cover for most budgets; going from the super luxury to the more basic ones. The most popular ones are: Wildlife Lodges– They used to be state owned, this chain have lodges in Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, Seronera Serengeti and North Serengeti.
Now that they have been privatised there have been some improvements to them. The Lodges usually have wonderful sites as they were the first to be built. The lodges themselves are not unattractive if quite large and lacking in intimacy.
The rooms tend to be of a good standard and although not always well maintained in the past, things are improving.
Sopa Lodges This chain of Lodges covers Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Seronera Serengeti. They usually have large public areas that can sometimes feel a little out of place. On the other hand the rooms are usually large and spacious, the hotels are well maintained and the Management is excellent.
Serena Luxury Lodges - Manyara, Ngorongoro and Seronera Serengeti These luxury lodges are distinctly more stylish than Wildlife or Sopa. They have the quality of service guaranteed by a chain but a degree of individuality and creative nice design. All these lodges are very large and tend to isolate their guests from the surrounding wilderness, which is a great pity! We will be able to quote and give details of other smaller lodges and camps on request.
Moivaro Coffee Plantation Situated 6 Km. from the centre of Arusha on the way to Kilimanjaro airport. This was once a large coffee estate and although since 2000 largely converted to a lodge you can still buy the coffee from the estate at the Hotel. The Hotel has beautiful gardens with spectacular views over Mount Meru, a swimming pool and very pleasant spacious bungalows with elegant bathrooms; there are also family bungalows with connecting rooms. This is a very popular well-run mid-range lodge with some local character.
